Hong Kong currently has a total of 34 tertiary institutions, including universities, colleges, and member institutions under the Vocational Training Council.
The teaching systems differ between public and private schools in Hong Kong. Public university programs are generally more rigorous than those in private universities. Private education tends to have a Western cultural influence and offers relatively more relaxed courses.
Undergraduate programs at universities in Hong Kong typically last four years.
